Today, we ask our readers, our communities, and all those who believe in the power of prayer and humanity to take a moment and hear the story of Tarik West.
Before anything else, we ask everyone reading this to please send your prayers, love, and support to Tarik and his family during this journey. 🙏💙
Tarik is not just a name. He is a husband. A father of five. A brother. A friend. A man of faith and perseverance.
Today, Tarik is courageously opening up about a deeply personal battle — a battle for his life. Tarik is living with Alport syndrome, a rare inherited condition that has now led to Stage 5 kidney failure.
Alport syndrome life expectancy can vary greatly depending on the specific genetic type of the condition, biological sex, and access to life-saving medical treatments such as dialysis or kidney transplantation. While progressive forms of the disease can lead to kidney failure, early diagnosis, proper treatment, and active symptom management can help many individuals live longer, meaningful lives.
In Tarik’s own words:
“My family is my world, and I want to be here for all the moments still ahead.”
At Overlooked Justice — The People’s Voice Uncensored, we believe some stories deserve more than views… they deserve action.
