In today’s America, the definition of justice seems to shift depending on who you are — not what you’ve done.
A man with five old felonies — crimes he committed just five years ago — is now rebuilding his life. At 42, he works hard, provides for his family, and is striving to secure a better future for his children. His latest step was applying for life insurance, a basic protection meant to ensure his kids are taken care of if tragedy ever strikes.
He was denied.
Not because of who he is today — but because of the mistakes he made years earlier.
Yet in this same country, a man with 34 felony convictions can register to run for President of the United States… and win. He can shape laws, direct federal power, influence national security, and sit in the most powerful office on earth — all while everyday citizens remain locked out of basic opportunities for far less.
Where is the justice in that?
This isn’t just about one president — it’s about a political system that seems to operate under two sets of rules.
Leaders on both sides break laws, bend rules, manipulate loopholes, or reinterpret accountability to suit their own needs. They preach “no one is above the law,” yet demonstrate—over and over—that some people truly are.
Some leaders even use the law to break the law, crafting policies to protect themselves while punishing ordinary Americans for far smaller offenses. Hate, division, and political weaponization have become their tools to keep power, not serve the people.
So we must ask:
Is this the new version of justice and democracy in the United States?
“Do as I say, not as I do”?
Millions of Americans can feel the imbalance. The system tells citizens to reform, but doesn’t allow them to recover. It tells leaders to lead, but rarely holds them accountable. And it tells us democracy is sacred, even as cracks grow wider each year.
